Opera House - moody1.jpg (81470 bytes)The Eighth Wonder of The World... A building with a blighted history however.

Designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon, the Opera House was subject to politicking and scandals which increased its cost from A$7M to A$102M (sounds like a certain Dome in London...)

The inspiration for the Opera House was apparently his study of Orange segments, Palm fronds or perhaps frilly cami-knickers, who knows.

During the dress rehearsal of the aptly selected first show - "War and Peace" in 1973, a possum appeared on stage.  Apparently the possum went on to Broadway, then Hollywood where it won an Oscar but tragically died of a drug overdose after a wild party - controversy surrounds it being found deceased in a swimming pool.
