High on a hill above
Queenstown is a concrete block known as the Skyline. To reach it you take a
cable car.
Serving cocktails and the largest buffet I've ever seen to hordes of Japanese
tourists, this place does fairly well on the popularity stakes.
Its appeal is not the drinks, nor the food (both of which are excellent) but
rather the use of glass throughout the structure to provide diners with an
uninterrupted view of the surrounding mountains, the lake and town below.
Watching
a sunset on a mountain range is amazing - the light passes through gaps in the
surrounding hills providing pockets and streaks of light. Every colour and hue
seems to take on a new dimension as light and dark mix.
A fitting place to toast our survival in the town where anything dangerous
and dumb goes.
