We liked Wellington.  That evening we spotted a theatre showing “Noises Off”.  We thoroughly enjoyed it.  Jason just roared with laughter.  Then we spotted another Indian restaurant and decided to give it a whirl,  no luck here either.  British curry houses are definitely best.

The hotel was an odd sort of place but the best we could since we arrived in Wellington after dark the previous night an the place was chock full.  It had been too late to go out and eat so we had shared some remnants of cheese and fruit we had stowed in the car.

In the morning we visit 'Te Papa' - the museum of New Zealand. Here we played with the myriad of interactive exhibits.

The road to Wellington had been endless.  Beautiful but endless.  I began to worry about Jason driving for so many hours, especially on the winding mountain roads.    The rain continued to pelt down, as it had for several days and so we turned around and headed back up the other way.

To cut a very long story short we had to forgo the visit to Coromandel and Hot Water Beach and Ninety Mile Beach, to my great disappointment,  but the weather was getting steadily worse.

Heading back to Auckland we stopped at a hot springs where we sampled a  hot spa/open air swimming pool which was lovely and hot to the body but it was raining so hard that we were forced to shut our eyes against it.  No fun at all so we pressed on to the Bay of Islands.
