With its 1,000 solid silver tiles, the Silver Palace is one of the only rich cultural monuments left untouched by the marauding Khmer Rouge.

The palace is a not the most imposing but it is at least a quiet getaway from the streets and the constant shouts of 'Moto', 'Cyclo', 'Postcard' that us westerners need to endure.

Within the main temple are hundreds of Buddha images - including a Baccarat Crystal Buddha image that sits atop a gold pedestal encrusted with jewels.

The gardens even have a hidden Buddha image in a small cave at the base of a temple on a rockery.
