One night in Bangkok... great name for a song. We spend three...

Its enough! Bangkok is hot, humid, smelly, damned noisy and often a hassle - taxi drivers refuse to use meters, don't know the way (or pretend not to so they can 'take you for a ride') and shopkeepers jack up prices as you approach.

Still, a good place acclimatise to the heat, the people and the smells... and the mania on the streets which seem to have no road traffic rules.

Bangkok has a vague sewer whiff and definitely feels foreign. However, both Iso and I have been here before so we do not suffer the 'culture shock' newbies often feel here.

This is a staging post, a place where we make our makeshift plans to travel around South East Asia - our plan includes Cambodia, Vietnam, South China and Hong Kong, The Philippines, Singapore and possibly a brief jaunt into Malaysia, Burma or Laos...

We're sure we'll miss one or more out, but we opt for Cambodia as it is here that the least trodden path lies.
