Wedding Gifts

As we are doing things in reverse (have the house, have the kids), we do not have the usual requirements of newlyweds and therefore we are neither expecting nor encouraging you to buy a gift.

However, we recognise that some of you will want to give us a gift (and some of you will ignore what we say anyway!), so we have set up a list at John Lewis - gift list 319878.

About our chosen charity:

We chose Global Angels because their cause is close to our hearts - supporting vulnerable children.

Jason has had the privelige to meet the founder, Molly Bedingfield and some of the charity's ambassadors. A truly inspirational group, their commitment to make a difference is outstanding, and their 'Global Angels Promise' is exceptional:

Global AngelsTHE GLOBAL ANGELS PROMISE:
Global Angels promises that every pound that they receive directly from public donations will go directly to support projects working with children at a grass-roots level.

Donations will be collected via our Just Giving page and will be donated to causes that benefit children around the World including several in Cambodia, a location we spent some time in during our Flashpacker travels in 2001.

Sunshine CentreSunshine Centre, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
The Sunshine Centre provides before and after school care to around 90 children aged 3-16 years. Their programme includes breakfast and a hot lunch, bathing facilities and basic health care.

The children’s families are amongst the poorest in Cambodia, earning low, irregular income. In the past the children themselves would spend their days roaming the busy, dirty streets, trying to make money, usually by collecting recyclable materials. In these hazardous conditions they not only are vulnerable to exploitation and abuse, but miss out on the simple pleasures of childhood. Their parents cannot afford school for them.

Hangar ShelterHagar, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Hagar is the most amazing organisation, making a tremendous difference in the lives of exploited women and children. A Swiss charity founded in response to the problems of street mothers and children in post conflict, Hagar has helped well over 100,000 mothers, children and family members through its social programs and economic projects.

Believing that to break the cycle of poverty, people need the necessary support, life skills and income-earning capacities to transform their lives Hagar have some awe inspiring projects.

HAGAR SHELTER: Hagar Shelter meets the needs of destitute women and children living on the streets of Phnom Penh.

REINTEGRATION OF TRAFFICKED WOMEN: This project places 'at risk' and trafficked women in viable and safe employment.

FOSTER HOME PROGRAM: The Foster Home Program provides care for 80 children in 10 foster home families. Some are orphans, others have come from a life on the streets and there are those from shocking backgrounds of trafficking and abuse, both physical and sexual.

Trafficking, violence against women and child abuse has risen to alarming levels. Now, more than ever, Cambodia’s young women and children need our help and support.
